New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day is a popular time to get engaged. At a time when you are celebrating new beginnings with family and friends it is the perfect time to look to the future. Whether it is a spur of the moment decision or it has been planned for a while, getting engaged is a wonderful time, and gives cause for an extra celebration. My wife Carol and I got engaged on New Year’s Eve thirteen years ago, and it helped extend the excitement of the new year when we shared our news with our families.
It is also the perfect time to plan the big event. The winter months are ideal for looking through wedding magazines to get ideas, drawing up a budget, and to put together a to-do list. Remember if you are planning to use a popular venue then you will need to book a date with them as soon as possible. Think about colour schemes. When you have a definite date tell your families, and talk to your bridesmaids and best man to make sure they have the date in their diary.
How about trying out wedding photographers by having an engagement photo taken? The new year is ideal for checking out suppliers and to make a short list.
If you have got engaged over Christmas or the New Year, can we offer you congratulations, and best wishes for your wedding planning.
